  3. 敬拜:i) 主的喜乐是我力量 – The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength
ii) 求圣灵降临 – Come, Holy Spirit
    iii) 祢的同在 – Your Presence

Glorious Calling

Order of Home Worship – Pentecost Sunday (13)

1. Opening Words: This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! This is the day when the Holy Spirit came. Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Rejoice, and again I say – Rejoice! (Based on Psalm 118:24; Philippians 4:4)

2. Prayer of Adoration:  Loving God, we thank You and praise You for raising Jesus from the dead and for sending Your Spirit, that we too may have new life in Christ. We also thank and praise You for the power and promise of Your Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in all our ways. Help us live in accordance with Your Spirit, setting our minds on what the Spirit desires, hence we may be joyfully alive in Christ. In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

3. Adoration:  i) The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength

 ii) Come, Holy Spirit

 iii) Your Presence (祢的同在)

4. Scripture Reading: John 7:37-39

5. Take Time to Reflect:

What does “thirsty” in this passage refers to? Are you thirsty? Are you desiring to drink the “living water”? What are the works of the Holy Spirit in one’s life?

6. Important Points:

John 7:37-39 takes place in the Jerusalem Temple during the Jewish Feast of Tabernacle. It was a feast reminding the people of Israel that God provided water for them from a rock under Moses’ leadership. It was on the last day of the celebration that Jesus mentioned about “thirsty…come and drink…the living water flows.”

I) Are You Thirsty?

The “thirsty” that mentioned by Jesus is not referring to our physical condition but spiritual. Are we spiritually thirsty or hungry? Are we longing more of Christ Jesus? The reasons we are not thirsty for Christ are: i) We are stuffed with the things of this world, hence we don’t need to come to Jesus. ii) We are living in sin which keeps us away from Jesus, we desire for “junk food” and not the “living water”.  Spiritual thirsty will cause our hearts to be hard, bitter, self-focused, sour and legalistic. Besides, it also leads to lawlessness, as described by Paul in Romans 1:21, 24. Jesus makes the invitation to come to Him, let us go to Him admitting our “thirsty” condition.

II) Are You Drinking?

Jesus invites people to come and drink the living water. No one can force you to drink. To drink from the “living water” is your choice. Jesus is the source of life and only He can satisfy our spiritual thirst and fill the emptiness of our soul. Jesus was telling the people that continue to believe in Him and out of inner soul shall continuously flow rivers of living water. Notice that Jesus was not asking people to accept certain teaching, doctrines, or principles here. Jesus was asking people to “Come to Me”. We can have a multitude of things, creeds, beliefs, doctrines, in our lives; but without Jesus, the source of our life, we will not be satisfied. Without Jesus we will not have living water flowing out from within. When we make the decision to become Christ’s followers, we are making a commitment to come to Jesus Christ and drink of the living water daily. You don’t come and make a one-time commitment. Daily we keep drinking the water of life. Daily we come to Jesus and seek His blessing and guidance.

III) How Can We Overflow?

In 7:39 it explains that the “living water” is the Holy Spirit, which was poured out on all followers of Jesus on the Day of Pentecost. Indeed, the overflowing life is the ministry and the work of the Holy Spirit. In order to have an overflowing life, we need to fully surrender ourselves to God. This means we are to submit our will to God daily, we are to let Jesus be the Lord of our lives, we are to empty ourselves and be filled with the Holy Spirit. When we come to a point in our walk with God that we truly let the Holy Spirit take over, we begin to overflow with the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In order to bear the fruit of the Spirit and have overflowing life, it is not how to get more of the Holy Spirit, but how can I let the Holy Spirit have more of me.

7. Unison Prayer: Eternal God, our Father, You are the source of our being. The breadth of our life, and the joy of our living. Thank You for reminding us that we can come to Jesus to quench the thirst in our life. Help us that daily we will keep drinking the water of life and seek your blessing and guidance. Teach us to fully surrender ourselves to Your Holy Spirit, hence we may bear the fruit of the Spirit. May our life continue to reflect Your glory and the world might believe, for the honor of Your holy name. Amen.

8. Offering, Thanksgiving and Intercession Time: (Share one thankful matter and a prayer request, give thanks and pray for each other. Then offering maybe received.)

9. Closing song: Glorious Calling (荣耀的呼召)

10. Closing Prayer: Almighty God, send us out as your witnesses, filled with the Holy Spirit, that we may proclaim Your gospel through our words and deeds. May Your Spirit lead, equip, and empower us to bring You glory now and always. Amen.

(11)Order of Home Worship (11)

My Heart Will Praise You, Lord

Listen To My Heart

Spirit Of The Living God

O Let The Son Of God Enfold You

Order of Home Worship (11)

1. Opening Words: Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard; he has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping. I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! (Psalm 66: 8-9, 17, 20)

2. Prayer of Adoration: Blessed are you, Lord God, King of the universe. In your wisdom you have made all creation to worship you. You call us to worship you now in this time and place, in unity with all your children from all places. We pray that you will quiet our hearts as we prepare to worship, so we may hear your voice in the songs that we sing and the reading of your Word. May this morning worship help us to offer our entire lives to you. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

3. Adoration: My Heart Will Praise You, Lord

 Listen To My Heart

Spirit Of The Living God

4. Scripture Reading: John 14:15-21

5. Take Time to Reflect:

What did Jesus promise to His disciples? Who is the another Counselor/Advocate in 14:16? Why is the “Counselor” important to you? How does the “Counselor” work in you?

6. Important Points:

In this passage, Jesus was at the end of His ministry on earth. He assured His disciples that God the Father and Him will not leave them alone to face with the challenges they will be facing. Jesus knew that life for His disciples would be overwhelming and complicated. Therefore, Jesus told His disciples that the Father will give them another Counselor, the Holy Spirit, to be with them (14:16).

We too are not exempted from life’s challenges, we also faced with daily issues that overwhelmed us. These daily issues, consequently, may threaten to separate us from God the Father and Jesus the Son. We need to thank God for giving us the Holy Spirit which is able to help us. How does the Holy Spirit help us?

I) The Holy Spirit Helps Us to Know That God Is Our Help (14:16)

When we are tired, depressed, and on the verge of giving up, we are thankful that God is always there to encourage and help us. For Jesus says He will ask the Father to send another “Counselor”, which is the Holy Spirit. And Holy Spirit is the One who comes alongside us, who encourages us, who comforts us or helps us. He will whisper to us: “You can make it, don’t give up. Though Jesus is not physically with you here and now, He is for you. God is for you!”

II) The Holy Spirit Helps Us to Know That God Is With Us (14:16-18, 21)

God will not leave us nor forsake us. He will not abandon us as orphans. When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord, God comes to us through His Spirit and stay with us. We don’t see God, and we don’t always feel Him, but He’s always there, working in our hearts. Isn’t it a great comfort to know that God is with us, He is always there for us when we needed Him. We don’t have to face with life circumstances alone, for God is with us.

III) The Holy Spirit Helps Us to Know That God Is Living In Us (14:17)

When we have the Spirit of God living in us, we are able to do great things. This happened to the disciples at the Pentecost where they found themselves doing things they could have never done before. Therefore, when God lives in us through His Spirit, He convicts us of sin, reassures us of our salvation, helps us to resist temptation, reminds us of God’s presence, comforts us, gives us the words we need to defend our faith and the courage we need to share our faith.

We are not alone because we have the Holy Spirit in us. This is Jesus’ promise and gift to all who believe and follow Him. The coming of the Holy Spirit is God’s presence in our lives. He is here to help us, be with us, and live in us. We can be assured that, even in the midst of overpowering difficulties, we have a Father who loves us, a Savior who triumphed over death, and the Holy Spirit who has been called to our side to help us.

7. Unison Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. Through the Holy Spirit, we know that You are always with us and You are helping us not to give up when life is difficult. We also thankful for in life circumstances we are never alone, because You are with us. We also know that by having Your Spirit living in us, we’re able to do great things for You, hence giving glory to You. Lord, we thank You and may You teach us not to take Your presence for granted and help us not to grieve your Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

8. Offering, Thanksgiving and Intercession Time: (Share one thankful matter and a prayer request, give thanks and pray for each other. Then offering maybe received.)

9. Closing Song: Spirit Song (O Let The Son Of God Enfold You)

10. Closing Prayer: O Lord, grant that what has been said with our lips we may believe in our hearts, and what we believe in our hearts we may walk in our daily lives, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

2. Prayer: (Using Psalm 31:1-5 as prayer)

1In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame;

deliver me in your righteousness.

2Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue;

3Since you are my rock and my fortress,

for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

4Keep me free from the trap that is set for me,

for you are my refuge.

5Into your hands I commit my spirit;

deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

3. Praise: Quizworx – I am the Way the Truth and the Life with Lyrics OR

I Know Whom I Have Believed

4. Scripture Reading: John 14:1-14

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

4.1. Exploring the Scripture:

1) What are Jesus’ promises to us? (14: 1-4)

2) How can we have these promises of Jesus? (14:1, 6-7)

3) What is the authority that is given to us by Jesus? (14:12-14)

4. 2. Reflection:

Way – Direction

Truth – Wisdom, Cognition, Perception

Life – Growth

Observation: 1. Believing in God and Jesus Christ (14:1).

       2. Believing in God’s house (14:2).

       3. Believing in the second coming of Jesus Christ (14:3).

       4. Believing in Jesus Christ will bring us back to heaven (14:3).

Why Jesus stressed in 14:10-12 that we must believe in Him?

5. Prayer of Thanksgiving and Intercession

1) Thank Jesus for revealing God’s will to us.

2) May God affirm our belief and help us to be committed in following the way, the truth and the life of Jesus Christ.

6. Closing Praise: Tis So Sweet To Trust in Jesus

7. End with the Lord’s Prayer (Slowly reciting through)

(How Great Thou Art)
(How Awesome You Are)
(I Live To Worship You)

(With All My Love)

Order of Home Worship (8)

  1. Opening Words: It is good to praise the Lord and make music to you name, O Most High, to proclaim you love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten- stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. How great are your works, O Lord, how profound your thoughts! You, O Lord, are exalted forever. (Psalm 92:1-5, 8)
  2. Prayer of Adoration: You are the Sovereign One, O God, and rightly to be praised. Your name shall ever be upon our lips. You have heard our cry and saved us from our distress. You have enlightened us; our faces reflect Your radiance. Your promised redemption aglow with splendor, Ruler of all nations we come to worship You. Amen.
  3. Adoration:
    1. How Great Thou Art
    2. How Awesome You Are (主祢真伟大)
    3. I Live To Worship You(活着为要敬拜祢)
  4. Scripture Reading: Luke 24:13-35
  5. Take Time To Reflect:
I believe all of us do have relationship with Jesus Christ, but how intimate is the

relationship? Do you desire for more intimacy with Jesus Christ? What can you do

to deepen your intimacy with the Lord?

  6. Some Points from the Passage:

Worship should move our lives. We have to admit, however, the church’s worship

doesn’t always move us. Especially now when we are unable to worship physically

in the church as one body, do our personal worship truly move us? I think

sometimes we are not moved, because of the intimacy we have with God through

Jesus Christ is just not there. This doesn’t mean we are not having a relationship

with Christ, but perhaps that relationship lacks intimacy.

This morning passage is about two followers of Jesus walking to Emmaus on the day of resurrection. They had an encounter with Jesus that changed their lives. There are some points in this passage about our relationship with Christ:

    1. Jesus Wants to Walk with Us

Our journey with Jesus began when He invited us to walk with Him. When we started to walk with Him, we might not know all about Him. Just like the two

disciples in the passage, they did not know that the “stranger” walking with them was Jesus. This, however, is our problem in our relationship with our Lord. The

invitation is where many Christians stop. We walk with Jesus but never allow the walk to go deeper. Therefore, many of us are missing the intimacy with Jesus. We

find it hard to connect with God and moved by our worship of Him.

    1. Jesus Wants to Stay with Us

The two disciples did not know the “stranger” with them was Jesus, but what they knew was that they wanted to know more. They were hoping that the “stranger”

(Jesus) to stay longer with them and helping to reveal and make them understand God’s Word. This is where the intimacy begins – don’t just walk with Jesus but stay

with Jesus. This tells us that let’s not meet Jesus only on Sunday in church, instead ask the Lord to be with you each and every day in your home. Meaning we are to

read God’s Word, pray, and worship day in and day out. When our walk with Jesus becomes staying with Jesus, that’s when the level of our intimacy with Him begins

    to change.

    1. Jesus Wants to Dine with Us.

In the passage we know that it was not until they were gathered at the table and when the bread was broken that the two disciples’ spiritual eyes were opened

(24:30-31). Dining has the meaning of intimacy here. Who would you invite to dine in your home? Not just anybody, but those who are intimate with you. When we

allow Jesus to fully take control over our lives, willing to share with Him every part of our lives, and truly having that intimacy with Him; our worship will move us no

matter where or in what circumstances we are in. Worship of God will be so powerful and will transform our lives inside out.

When we have that intimacy with Jesus it changes the way we worship. So where are you now, still on the road or already at the table?

  7. Unison Prayer: O God, thank You for teaching us again the true meaning of worship through Your Word. We humbly come before You, Lord, acknowledging that many

a time we only want to walk with You, but are unwilling to let you stay with us and dine with us. Today, we pray that may Your Holy Spirit work in our hearts and help

us to open our hearts and let You dwell in us. Draw us close to You. Let us be in Your presence each and every day. O Lord, may our worship of You no longer be

superficial, but grow in our intimacy with You. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

  8. Offering, Thanksgiving and Intercession Time: (Personally or ask everyone to share a matter to be thankful for and a prayer request, then give thanks and pray for each

other. After that offering maybe received.)

  9. Closing song: With All My Love
  10. Closing Prayer:

O God, as we come to the close of this morning worship, we await Your blessing so that we may be comforted by the assurance that You will be with us during the

coming week. Continue to speak to us as we seek Your face. Guide us by Your Holy Spirit. Keep us close to You, we pray, in every aspect of our daily lives. We pray in

the name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

(7Order of Home Worship (7)

This Is The Day
Holy Holy Holy
How Great Is Our God

Here In Your Presence

Order of Home Worship (7)

  1. Opening Words: The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done. The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Psalm 118:14, 17, 22-24, 29)
  2. Prayer of Adoration: O God, we give You thanks for the hope we have in Jesus Christ, who died but is risen and rules over all. O God, we praise You for Jesus’ presence with us. Because He lives, we have eternal life, knowing that nothing can separate us from Your great love made known in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
  3. Adoration:
    This Is The Day 这是耶和华所定日子
    Holy Holy Holy
    How Great Is Our God
  1. Scripture Reading: John20:24-31
  2. Take Time To Reflect:How have these verses spoken to you? Has the Risen Lord impact your life or He is only the Lord on Easter? How does this passage help you in overcoming your anxiety and fear? Are you doubting God during this difficult time?
  1. Some Points from the Passage:Facing with the Covid-19 pandemic and speculated economic crisis, I believe we may feel like we are in the wilderness, the desert, and we may be dealing with despair, doubt and sorrow. John 20:24-31, however, is just the right passage for us to ponder at this moment.
    1. The Risen Lord Gives Us PeaceThe Gospel of John tells us that the disciples were still having fear and anxiety though they had seen the Risen Christ about a week ago. Therefore, when Jesus appeared among them He said to them, “Peace be with you.” Peace (shalom) is a powerful word not only the disciples needed it then, it is also a word that all of us need today. The word “peace” is used by Christians to describe a person’s relationship with God – safe, comforting, trusting, and content.

One point to take note is that before Jesus was in the room, it was filled with the atmosphere of anxiety, worry, fear and distress. But when Jesus came into the room, there was a transformation in the atmosphere to peace, comfort, encouragement and safety. Jesus’ presence made all the difference.

It is human to be in fear and filled with anxiety, worry and doubt. Nevertheless, we don’t have to live in this way. We don’t have to face all these by ourselves. In fact, we can call on Jesus Christ, for He is our Great Shepherd and Friend. When something happens that tries to rob our peace, we can go to our Risen Lord and Savior, and rest in His peace. How? By taking time to allow Jesus Christ to come into our hearts and minds. We have to focus on the Only One who can give us “true peace.”

    2. The Risen Lord Attends to IndividualFrom the passage it looks like the appearance of Jesus had one particular person and one intention in mind – Thomas. We might think that Jesus Christ would rebuked Thomas for his doubt and little faith. But Jesus’ appearance was not to scold or ridicule Thomas. Jesus was there because Thomas needed Him. Jesus saw that Thomas needed a little more help and assurance. This tells us that when we are in need or in doubt, Jesus will attend to us.

Our Lord understands those time that we struggle with our spiritual walk. Our Lord understands our confusion and doubt in this difficult times. Our Lord also understands that we don’t know what to say or which direction to turn in this moment. Let us be assured that Jesus will attend to us like He attended to Thomas. For the Lord comes to those who need assurance, encouragement and comfort.

Therefore, today when we find ourselves confused, in doubt, wondering what in the world is going to happen, know that Jesus is not going to shame us, to disappoint us or reject us. Our Lord is going to treat us with as much love and kindness as possible. He will be with us no matter what happens.

  1. Unison Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for giving us the peace we need through the Risen Christ, our Lord. O Lord, we praise You for being with us in every moment of our lives. When we needed peace, comfort, and help, You are always there for us. When we doubt and lost in our faith, You are there to encourage and reassure Your presence with us. O Holy Spirit, we thank You for giving us the power, strength and guidance we need to face with each and every day, especially in this trying time of our lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord, we pray. Amen.
  2. Offering, Thanksgiving and Intercession Time: (Personally or ask everyone to share a matter to be thankful for and a prayer request, then give thanks and pray for each other. After that offering maybe received.)
  3. Closing song: Here In Your Presence
  4. Closing Prayer: O Lord, grant that what has been said with our lips we may believe in our hearts, and what we believe in our hearts we may walk in our daily lives, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

(6)Order of Home Worship (6)

My Redeemer Lives

Shout to the Lord

Source: The Worship Source Book, Bakers Book, Grand Rapids, Michigan, p.651)

Because He Lives

Order of Home Worship (6) – Easter Sunday

  • (Prepare for everyone an Easter Egg)
  • Light a candle (On Good Friday the candle was blown off, this morning the Everlasting Light, Jesus Christ is shining forth in this world)
  1. Opening Prayer: God of life, we praise you for the miracle of Easter. We pray for great joy to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. We pray especially for those whose lives are filled with pain, loss or deep sadness. May they sense how the resurrection is a source of great hope. Amen.
  2. Proclaiming together: Alleluia! Christ is risen. Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has given us new life and hope. He has raised Jesus from the dead. Alleluia!
  3. Adoration:My Redeemer Lives

    Shout To The Lord

  1. Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
  2. Take Time To Read:When Jesus went to the cross two days ago, when the nails were driven into his hands and feet, and when the Savior breathed his last and it looked like all his work had come to naught; in fact, victory has been won! This victory is just not for Jesus Christ, but for all of his followers. Therefore, we can live a victorious life through Jesus Christ! This echoes what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:55- 57, “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are few areas in our lives that we can have victory through our risen Lord, Jesus Christ! First, we can have victory over sins and evil habits. Christ has saved us from all of the weaknesses and sins in our life because we have the Spirit of Christ living in us. We can turn to our Lord when we are tempted to sin, for he knows our every weakness (ref. Hebrews 4:15). Let us be assured that nothing is so strong, no sin is so long standing and powerful, that it cannot be broken by Jesus Christ’s power!

Second, we can have victory over our fear. People are afraid of many things; we fear of losing our status, pride, wealth, health, and especially our life which is death. But the truth is that those who trust in Christ Jesus have nothing to fear. Because in Christ Jesus we have overcome. In Christ we have peace and joy that passes all understanding (ref. Matthew 28:9-10).

Third, we can have victory over life’s trials and tragedies. Our Lord is always walking by our side, holding us when we are weak, and comfort us when we need it. Christ is there to help us carry the heaviest burden that we are facing in our lives (ref. Matthew 11:28-30). Never has a burden been so heavy that he could not share it or lift it. Besides, when we have Jesus Christ in our lives, we no longer live only for now and then. We are living for eternity because we know that one day he will call us home, to the glorious eternal home.

Fourth, we can have victory over death. Because sin entered this world, death is inevitable. Death is the final and hardest opposition that we face! (ref. 1 Corinthians 15:26) But today we no longer fear death because our Lord has overcome death and give us victory over death. Because of Christ’s resurrection, we are saved from the sting of death.

  1. TakeTime To Do Personal Response:
    1. Easter is about victory. What will you do with the victory Christ is offering to you?
    2. Which area/s of fear that you are going to surrender to Jesus Christ?
    3. Say a personal responsive prayer to God.
  2. Unison Prayer: Eternal God, we praise you that your glory has dawned on us and brought us into this day of resurrection. We rejoice that the grave could not hold your Son and that he has conquered death, risen to rule over all powers of this earth. We praise you that he summons us into new life, to follow him with joy and gladness. By your Spirit, lift us from doubt and despair and set our feet in Christ’s holy way, that our lives may be signs of his life and that all we have may show forth his love. Praise, glory, and thanksgiving to you, our God, forever and ever. Amen.

(Source: The Worship Source Book, Bakers Book, Grand Rapids, Michigan, p.651)

  1. Commitment to live a victorious life and offering: (Everyone breaks the Easter Egg – symbolizes the resurrection of Christ, the empty tomb. It also symbolizes a new life – victorious life – seal within it. Blow off the candle, reminding us that we are now the light and salt of the world, we are to go forth to shine for Jesus Christ. After that offering may be received.)
  2. Closing song: Because He Lives
  3. Closing Prayer: O Lord, you have restored us to life, you have brought us back again into your love by the resurrection of Christ. Continue to heal us as we go to live and work by the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Worthy Is The Lamb

Order of Home Worship (5) – Good Friday

(A Guided Self Reflection Worship)

Light a candle (symbolizes Jesus Christ, the Light of the World)

  1. Take some moments to quiet your heart before God
  2. Opening Word: God so loved the world that he gave his own dearly beloved Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. On this day of remembrance and hope, it is a joy to know: God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but to save it. (Based on John 3:16-17)
  3. Prayer: Holy and loving God, as I come before you tonight, help me to prepare my hearts and set aside my busyness so that I can focus intently on Jesus’ suffering and death. I pray that You open my eyes to see all of the amazing things that Jesus’ death means for me. Help me to understand You, Your love, and my salvation. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
  4. Worship: GreatIs Your Love
  5. Read: Isaiah 53:3-7
  6. Self-Reflection: How have these verses spoken to you? Have you despised the Lord, Jesus Christ? How have you turned away from God? Take some time to reflect on this.
  7. Worship: HowPrecious You Are To Me (深触我心)
  8. Read: Luke 23:13-21
  9. Self-Reflection: When we are not obeying God, when we are denying our Lord in thoughts, words, and deeds, aren’t we like the crowd that shouted “Crucify Him!”? How and in what areas have we been disobedience and denying our Lord and God? Take some time to reflect on this.
  1. Worship: Wounded For Me (为我受伤)
  2. Read: Matthew 27:27-31
  3. Self-Reflection: Indeed, God’s love towards us is immeasurable. He allowed Jesus Christ to go through the suffering for our sake. Ask yourself, how much do you comprehend the love of God for you? Do you take Jesus Christ, the gift of God to us for granted? Where is your stand in your present relationship with Jesus Christ? Take time to reflect on this.

Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crush for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” This is the promise that God has given to all of us.

  1. Worship: Were You There?(你曾否见我主)
  2. ReadLuke 23:44-46
  3. Self-Reflection: How have these verses spoken to you about God’s grace and mercy? What do you want to say to the Lord for his great act of love? Aren’t you going to make your relationship right with God? Take some time to think about this.

Action:

  • (Blow off the candle – reminding that Jesus died for you)
  • Take time to confess before God and say a repentance prayer.
  • Lift up your worries, sickness, stress, etc. to God through prayer.
  • Thank God for sending his only Son, Jesus Christ to die for us so that we may have the amazing gift of salvation and life abundant.
  • Make a commitment prayer to God.
  1. Prayer: Loving God, we know that you love us, so we confess that we have let you down. Every day we betray you, deny you, misunderstand you, crucify you. We betray you when we are selfish or unkind. We deny you when we do not speak out for justice and truth. We misunderstand you when we justify our actions by misquoting your teaching. We are truly sorry.

However, we thank you, God, that you have delivered us from the dominion of sin and death and brought us into the kingdom of your Son. We thank you that by Christ’s death, he has recalled us to life, and by his love he may raise us to eternal joys. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

  1. Word of Assurance: Jesus himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
  2. Worship: Worthy Is The Lamb
  3. Closing Word: We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us – and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
  4. Silent Meditation. End of Self-Reflection Worship.

Order-For-Home-Worship-Holy-Thursday-4.pdf (37 downloads)

Lead Me To Calvary
Trust and Obey

Prepared by The Board of Worship and Music.
Chinese Annual Conference, The Methodist Church in Malaysia (9/4/2020)
Order of Home Worship (4) – Holy Thursday

  1. Opening Prayer: Merciful and loving Father, during this week we are walking with Jesus Christ through a memorable and hopeful journey. Help us to understand Your will and Your love towards this world. Help us to understand the salvation in Jesus Christ hence we can be transformed by the renewing of our hearts and faithful in serving Your Kingdom. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
  2. Read: Matthew 11:28
  3. Adoration: Lead Me To Calvary
  4. Unison Reading: Mark 14:32-42
  5. Take Time to Reflect and Share Your Thoughts with Each Other:
    1. What impressed you most in the passage? Why?
  1. Some important points from the above passage:
    1. Jesus faced the suffering alone hence you don’t have to face it alone. In the passage, our Lord was deeply distressed and troubled in the Garden of Gethsemane (14:32-34). When Jesus was going to the cross, he was filled with agony, sorrow, and sadness, even to the point of dying, that his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground (Luke 22:44). During that moment Jesus’ disciples were not at his side, some of them were sleeping away. Jesus alone faced the distress and trouble. Therefore, he understands the weaknesses and the temptations we are facing. The Bible tells us that “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) You don’t have to face your suffering alone because Jesus will be facing it together with you.
    2. Sometime the only choice we have is to face with our sufferings. In 14:37 and 40, we noticed that while Jesus was praying, his disciples were unable to keep watch and were twice fallen into sleep. Also we found that two times Jesus asked the Father to take away the cup that he has to drink (14:36), however, it seems that God the Father was silent. When Jesus was arrested by the soldiers, he did not try to escape; in fact, he was willing to face with the suffering. Jesus was not afraid of the large group of soldiers that came to arrest him, instead with boldness he said: “Am I a rebellion that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me?” It is our human nature that when we are facing with suffering, we want God to take that suffering away. No doubt there are times where God would take away our suffering, however, most of the time God would want us to face with our suffering and walk through it by depending on Jesus Christ.
    3. The strength to overcome temptation through prayer. Jesussays to his disciples: “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” In order to overcome our spiritual and physical weaknesses, we have to be persistent in our prayer, we need to watch and pray. Through prayer Jesus came to understand God’s will, gained his strength, and be obedient to God. Later on when the high priest asked Jesus, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” He replied: “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” (Mark 14:61-62)
  1. Unison Prayer: Beloved Father God, I thank Jesus for loving and dying for me on the cross. Jesus faced the suffering alone, hence I know that no matter what kind of circumstances befall me, I am not alone, for Jesus will be walking with me on this journey of the cross. O Lord, I pray that you grant me the strength to face with the temptations and the present problems. Besides, we want to pray for the frontline medical officers who are working with the Covid-19 patients, those who are affected by Covid-19, those who had lost their love ones; may you grant them your grace, hope, and strength. May you protect them and also protect us and all of our family members. In Jesus Christ’ name we pray. Amen.
  2. Offering/Give Thanks and Intercession: (Everyone may share testimony on thanksgiving. Pray for each other. After that offering maybe received.)
  3. Closing Song: Trust and Obey
  4. Praying the Lord’s Prayer together:

Order-For-Home-Worship-Palm-Sunday-3.pdf (38 downloads)

Order of Home Worship (3)  Palm Sunday

  1. Opening Prayer: Loving Father, as we journey with your Son in this week of remembrance and hope, help us to understand you and your love for the world more clearly. Transform us by the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and prepare us for service in your kingdom, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
  2. Read: Zechariah 9:9
  3. Adoration:
    1. Hosanna In The Highest
    2. Jesus, My Everything
    3. Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing
  1. Unison Reading: Luke 19:28-44
  2. Take Time to Reflect:
    1. Who is the unnamed character in the passage just read? Why do think the owners allowed Jesus to use his donkey?
    2. As followers of Jesus Christ, what lessons can we learned from the unnamed character in this passage?
    3. There are four groups of people we can identify in this passage: the opponents, the indifferent, the enthusiastic, the committed. Which group you want to belong to? How should you act?

(Ask everyone to share their thoughts)

  1. Some important points to share from the above passage:
    1. A lot of times when we read this passage, we would concentrate on our Lord Jesus Christ, his disciples, the crowds, or the donkey. The owners of the donkey and colt, who is the unnamed character, are seldom the highlight in this passage. The owners loaned the donkey to Jesus because they acknowledged Jesus as their “Master”. Because when the owners asked Jesus disciples “Why are you untying the donkeys?” Once it was stated that “The Master needs it”, the discussion was over.
    2. Three main lessons we can learned from the owners of the donkeys:
      1. The true follower of Jesus is willing to give what he has to the Lord. The Lord will not ask us to give what we don’t have. He sometimes asks us to give the simple things that we have and uses them in great ways. What can you give to the Lord?
      2. The true follower of Jesus knows that what he has belongs to the Lord. Everything we have has been given to us as a gift from the Lord. Indeed, God has given us many things: our talents, our resources, our time, our children, our jobs, our interests. All these belong to God and He has given them to us as a gift. They are ours to use, but God can ask for them back at any time.
      3. The true follower of Jesus knows that the value of what we have is multiplied when it is placed at the Lord’s hands. Look at how much more valuable the donkey became when placed in the hands of Jesus. This donkey had a part in fulfilling prophecy; this donkey transported the Lord of All Creation; and this donkey and its owner have been remembered for two thousand years because of their simple act. What we have will become more valuable when we place the things we have in the Lord’s hands.
    3. We should be the committed group, who trust Christ Jesus as our Savior and Lord. We should acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the “Master” of our lives. What Jesus truly wants is our hearts, meaning our trust, allegiance, and willingness to follow Him. Therefore, what Jesus commands we will do; where He sends, we will go; and what He asks for, we will do.
  1. Unison Prayer: God of majesty, You are holy. We thank You for giving us the gift of eternal life and the many gifts in this life. We come before You confessing that we’ve taken all these for granted and forgotten that all that we have belongs to You. Forgive us, O God. As we enter into the holy week, remembering our Lord, Jesus Christ’s journey to the cross, lead us, O God, in the way of Christ. Give us courage to take up our cross and Him by relying on Your grace. Help us to love You above all else and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Give us strength to serve You faithfully until the promised day of resurrection. Continue to remind us through your Word and the Holy Spirit that You are the Master of our lives. In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
  2. Thanksgiving Prayer and Offering: (Everyone to thank God for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ and the gifts He has given us in our daily life. After that offering maybe received.)
  3. Closing song: I Surrender All
  4. Close by praying the Lord’s Prayer together

Order-For-Home-Worship-29032020-Revised.pdf (44 downloads)

(2)Order of Home Worship (2)

Order of Home Worship (2)

  1. Opening Prayer: Dear God, we come to worship You today. We come to sing, pray, and listen. You always hear us. Help us to hear You. Amen.
  2. Read: Psalm 86:8-10
  3. Adoration: I Worship You

There Is None Like You

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

  1. Unison Reading: John 11:1-45
  2. Take Time to Reflect:
  3. Who has hope in this passage? What is hope?
  4. When faced with life discouragement, who did Martha andMary turn to? What about us?
  5. How is the narrative of the resurrection of Lazarus help us to trust in Jesus Christ?

(Ask everyone to share their thoughts)

  1. Some important points to share from the above passage:
  2. Martha has hope. She has the hope that something would happen when Jesus came. She says: “And even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” Martha did not know exactly what Jesus had planned, but she had hope that something would happen. Hope does not cover up what has happened, but it gives a promise of something better to come.
  3. Martha and May were discouraged as they both told Jesus “If you would have been here our brother would not have died.” But even in that discouragement they saw a hope in Jesus. Indeed, Jesus is their hope and He responded by saying, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” And eventually, Jesus finds the tomb where Lazarus is buried, He asks for the stone to be removed, then He calls, “Lazarus, come out.” And out of death comes Lazarus. This passage is telling us that out of discouragement comes hope.
  4. This narrative of Lazarus is the narrative of hope, a narrative of the resurrection, a narrative that says out of despair comes hope for those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. For Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” All of us face discouragement in life, and it is at those times we need to turn to the Lord and somehow He will act. We must believe that somehow He will act. When we are somewhere between yesterday’s tragedy and tomorrow’s triumph, let us choose to trust in Christ, wait upon Him, and see how God will act.
  5. Prayer: Abba Father, we thank You that we have hope through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Presently we may be in despair, full of worry, and filled with hopelessness. However, we pray that through your Word and Holy Spirit, help us continue to wait and linger on You. For we know that You will act and You will deliver. May You give us the grace and the mercy we need to wait upon You. In Jesus Christ name we pray. Amen.
  6. Offering, Thanksgiving and Intercession Time: (Ask everyone to share a matter to be thankful for and a prayer request, then give thanks and pray for each other. After that offering maybe received.)
  7. Closing song: I Know Who Holds Tomorrow
  8. Closing prayer
